The Last Ship
Sting is to star in the Canadian premiere of his critically acclaimed musical The Last Ship. Presented by David Mirvish and produced by Karl Sydow and Kathryn Schenker, the limited six-week engagement runs February 9 through March 24, 2019 at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre.
Returning to the spectacular grounds of Oxfordshire’s Blenheim palace on 2-5 August, Countryfile Live is one of the biggest and most exciting events this summer. The four-day event schedule, hosted by the presenters of the TV programme, is packed with features celebrating everything we love about the great British Countryside – including delicious foods, farming, wildlife, crafts, live music, sports and lots of shopping – making this a summer favourite for the whole family.
James Graham's Sketching
Oliver Award-winning playwright James Graham and director Thomas Hescott are pleased to announce the eight emerging writers they have picked to collaborate with on this uniquely multi-authored play. Graham and Hescott put out a call for submissions from emerging talents - particularly those currently underrepresented in the industry - with exciting and innovative story and character ideas. James Graham’s SKETCHING will play at Wilton’s Music Hall from Wednesday 26 September – Saturday 27 October.

Shakespeare's Rose Theatre Grand Opening
Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre, Europe’s first pop-up Elizabethan theatre, had its grand opening this week in York, along with a free-to-enter Shakespeare’s Village. Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, attended to bless the theatre and actors at the opening ceremony. The theatre houses 950 people, with 600 seated on three tiered balconies around an open-roofed courtyard and standing room for 350 ‘groundlings’. Four of the Bard’s greatest works, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet and Richard III will be performed by two companies of actors until September 2.
Kiss Me Kate
Opera North’s award-winning production of Cole Porter’s Broadway comedy classic opened in London yesterday. With performers from the worlds of Opera and the West End, as well as the full-scale orchestra and chorus of Opera North, this production brings the magical sound of Broadway to the London Coliseum. Target Live has been working with the Opera North team on a full service campaign including marketing, media, PR and ticketing.
PROCESSIONS MARCH 2018
On Sunday tens of thousands of women gathered in cities across the UK to mark 100 years since British women won the vote. Women in London, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh donned the purple, green and white colours of the suffragette movement to join the mass procession. Commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary and produced by Artichoke, PROCESSIONS gathered one hundred female artists working with communities across the UK to create banners for the marches in the four cities.
Buddy returns for 30th Anniversary Tour

James Graham's Sketching
James Graham is searching for new and undiscovered playwrights to work on a play inspired by Charles Dickens’ writing.Working with director Thomas Hescott, Graham will create Sketching, which will run at Wilton’s Music Hall from September 26 to October 28. Maly Theatre Opening Night
The legendary Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg - described by Peter Brook as ‘the finest ensemble theatre in Europe’ – opened its much anticipated London season last night to 5 star reviews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. In London for the first time in over a decade and they present the UK première of Vasily Grossman’s epic novel Life and Fate and their celebrated production of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
An exciting ensemble cast was revealed for Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre in York yesterday at a media launch held on the Bard’s Birthday,Included in the company are Versaille star Alexander Vlahos who will play Romeo opposite The Musketeers’ Alexandra Dowling, with Requiem’s Dyfan Dwyfor playing Richard III.A free to enter Shakespeare’s Village will offer wagon performances, street food and an Elizabethan garden.Earlier, a photocall was held at Kings Cross Station, where it was announced Grand Central are renaming a train the William Shakespeare, in honour of the summer of Shakespeare in York.
Tommy Steele stars in The Glenn Miller Show
60 years ago, Tommy Steele made his debut in a sold out run at the London Coliseum Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. He now returns with a salute to his idol for 7 weeks only in The Glenn Miller Show, featuring the authentic sounds of In the Mood, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Chattanooga Choo Choo and many more. Target Live are working alongside Bill Kenwright on marketing, ticketing, media and design for this new musical celebration.
The cast has been announced for the premiere of the stage adaptation of Nigel Slater’s memoirs Toast, at The Lowry in Salford.Sam Newton (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, UK Tour) will play Nigel Slater in the production, which runs from Tuesday 22 May to Saturday 2 June as part of The Lowry’s Week 53 arts festival.
Southbank Centre Cover Wrap
On Thursday 29 March we had a cover wrap in the Evening Standard to announce the reopening of two iconic venues at the Southbank Centre: the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room. After almost three years of refurbishment both venues will open their doors to the public on Monday 9 April 2018 with a vibrant programme of music, gigs, dance and performance.
The Last Ship's Launch
Sting’s personal and passionate musical The Last Ship was officially launched at Northern Stage Newcastle last night – earning a rousing reception and critical acclaim with 5 and 4 star reviews. Tuesday night saw Sting and other famous North East faces – including Alan Shearer and Denise Welch – attend a red carpet gala raising funds for local charity The Graham Wylie Foundation. Following its Tyneside run the show sets sail on a major UK & Ireland tour vising cities including Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds and Salford.

St Petersburg Ballet Theatre at the London Coliseum
The internationally acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre’s production of the world’s most loved ballet Swan Lake comes to the London Coliseum from 22 – 26 August. Joining the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre for this production will be the renowned prima ballerina Irina Kolesnikova and Denis Rodkin (Bolshoi Ballet).

Following a sell-out season last year, The Wipers Times will be returning to the Arts Theatre this October. Ian Hislop and NIck Newman’s acclaimed play is inspired by the true story of soldiers in the midst of the Somme who created their own satirical newspaper.

WOW – Women of the World Festival
WOW – Women of the World Festival returns to Southbank Centre. The festival celebrates women and girls and looks at the obstacles that stop them from achieving their potential. As a global network of festivals it provides a platform for celebrating what has been achieved, and exploring all the ways we can change the world for the better. This 8th annual instalment marks the 100th anniversary since some women got the vote in the UK, and when #MeToo shook the world.

The Moderate Soprano
Jeremy Herrin’s acclaimed production of David Hare’s The Moderate Soprano to have West End premiere in April 2018, following a sold out run at Hampstead Theatre in 2015. Roger Allam and Nancy Carroll will reprise roles of Glyndebourne founder John Christie and his wife Audrey Mildmay with further casting to be announced.
The Best Man
Bill Kenwright presents the West End premiere of Gore Vidal’s sharp political drama The Best Man, at The Playhouse Theatre from Saturday 24 February.Starring: Martin Shaw, Jeff Fahey, Maureen Lipman, Jack Shepherd, Honeysuckle Weeks and Glynis Barber. We are pleased to be working with The Cogency once again on 14-18 NOW, a programme of extraordinary artistic experiences connecting people with the First World War from 2014 to 2018. This is timed to mark the centenary of the war, which engulfed Europe, Asia and Africa from 1914-1918Famous amongst many for the Poppies: Wave and Weeping Window sculptures that toured the UK, 14-18 NOW is commissioning artists from the UK and around the world to look afresh at this conflict and to create shared experiences exploring this significant moment in time.
Molière's comedic masterpiece - Tartuffe
Inspired by current world events, award-winning playwright Christopher Hampton has freshly adapted Molière's comedic masterpiece. This thrilling new adaptation of Molière’s classic comedy, penned by Academy, BAFTA and Olivier award winner Christopher Hampton (ART, Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement), and directed by the former dramaturg of the French People’s National Theatre Gerald Garutti, will premiere as the West End’s first ever dual language theatre production.
The Manchester Theatre Awards
Nominations have been announced for the forthcoming Manchester Theatre Awards to be held at The Lowry on Friday 9 March, hosted by actor and comedian Justin Moorhouse. The annual awards – the most important theatrical prize-giving outside London – has been a major fixture of the North West cultural calendar since 1981 and will honour productions seen in Greater Manchester during 2017. The Manchester Theatre Awards are in association with Target Live, whose Manchester office will be managing the PR for the forthcoming awards.

The Last Ship
On Sunday it was announced that Sting’s musical, The Last Ship, will receive its UK premiere in a new production at Northern Stage next year, before setting sail on a national tour directed by Lorne Campbell, and featuring Jimmy Nail.
